About the City Manager

BIOGRAPHY

Daniel Jackson was appointed the City Manager by the City Council in November 2020. Prior to this appointment, Daniel was the Assistant Chief of Police for the Dimmitt Police Department from August 2016 to October 2020. He had been with the Dimmitt Police Department since September 2014.

EDUCATION

After graduating from Dimmitt High School in 2006, Daniel attended West Texas A&M University and pursued a bachelor’s degree in Criminal Justice. He graduated from W.T.A.M.U. in 2011. In 2012, Daniel attended the South Plains Association of Governments Regional Law Enforcement Academy in Lubbock and graduated with a Texas Peace Officer License.

While with the Dimmitt Police Department, Daniel was able to successfully complete the required continuing education and required years of service to earn his Intermediate, Advanced, and Master Peace Officer certifications.

After his appointment to the Dimmitt City Manager position, Daniel began the Certified Public Manager Program through Texas Tech University in February 2021. Daniel successfully completed and graduated from the T.T.U. C.P.M. Program in June 2022, earning the designation of Certified Public Manager. 

COMMUNITY

Daniel currently serves on the Dimmitt Economic Development Corporation, the Dimmitt Rotary Club, the Dimmitt I.S.D. Parent/Family Engagement Committee, the Panhandle Regional Economic Development Advisory Committee, the Panhandle Regional Emergency Management Advisory Committee, the Panhandle Regional Solid Waste Management Advisor Committee, and was elected to serve on the Board of Directors for the Panhandle Regional Planning Commission.
