Fire Department

Established in 1929, the Dimmitt Volunteer Fire Department’s primary function is to protect lives and property. The Dimmitt Volunteer Fire Department provides services for not only the City of Dimmitt, but also Castro County through an interlocal agreement for rural community fire protection between the City of Dimmitt and Castro County.

The Dimmitt Volunteer Fire Department’s responsibilities include responding to residential and commercial structure fires, motor vehicle accidents, hazardous material incidents, and wildland fires. The department is also responsible for fire prevention activities, inspections, and public education. The Department consists of about 20 members and is a fully volunteer department.

The Dimmitt Volunteer Fire Department is equipped with two fire engines or pumpers, three brush trucks, two tanker trucks, one rescue truck, one command vehicle, and one personnel vehicle.
